Fruit and Vegetable Shopping Tips

I just have read this from an old magazine....though it is old but I hope it can help to all mommies or shoppers out there.

.) Seasonal vegetables are the more economical alternative.

.) Color is a good gauge when buying fruit and vegetables. The dark green and orange colored Fruits and   Vegetables are rich sources of vitamins A, C and E.

.) Roots vegetables have very little waste and can be stored for a longer time than a green, leafy vegetables.

.) Buy fruits and vegetables in season when they are cheapest.

.) Try avoiding pre-packed vegetables because buying them loose lets you pick out the best and the right amount you need - they're more cheaper.

.) Fruits are often sold in bulk at special prices, these can be economical and are small enough to take to work or for your kid's lunch boxes.

.) Frozen vegetables and fruits are very convenient and just as nourishing as fresh, it is best to buy frozen vegetables and fruits last, so that  you can get them to freezer quickly.

.) Canned vegetable foods are nutritious and convenient. In the case of canned fruit, select those canned in its own juice.

.) Supermarket brand are often cheaper. Look for special offers on tinned fruit, vegetables and frozen vegetables.

.)Tinned tomatoes can be used by busy people as a base for sauces and soups, as a topping for pizza, or used to stretch ready-made or home-made sauces.

.)Choose fruit juice in preference to fruit flavored drinks. Fruit flavored drinks may be cheaper but unless they are low in sugar and have added vitamin C, they are not as nourishing.

.)Look out for fruit and vegetables special offers in your local supermarkets.

* I hope this well help you when buying fruits and vegetables for your family.
